Fassnacht, Fergus Repeat as A-10 Weekly Honorees

GW's top two hitters earn second straight accolades from conference
WASHINGTON - For the second straight week, junior Nate Fassnacht and first-year Cade Fergus of the GW baseball team were honored as Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the Atlantic 10.
Fassnacht helped lead GW to a 2-1 weekend record against UMass Lowell, reaching base safely in nine of his 14 plate appearances while hitting .500 with a 1.518 OPS. Starting each game at shortstop, Fassnacht was 4-for-8 with three doubles, three runs scored, two RBI, five walks and two stolen bases.
He scored all three runs in Friday's series opener before delivering GW's only RBI with a double in the eighth inning on Saturday. He finished out the set with another double amidst three walks in the series finale Sunday.
Fassnacht is the only Colonial to reach safely in all 13 games this season and has hit safely in eight straight contests. He enters Tuesday second in the nation with 10 doubles so far this year.

Fergus continued his tremendous rookie campaign with five hits against the River Hawks, batting .417 with a 1.033 OPS. He also scored four runs, drove in two and stole three bases.
He started his weekend with his fourth straight multi-hit game, scoring three runs and stealing two bases on Friday. After a 1-for-4 day Saturday, he was 2-for-5 on Sunday, delivering the game-tying two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Fregus possesses the team's longest active hitting streak at nine games and is tied for the team lead with five multi-hit contests this year.
The Colonials return to action today against Towson at 3 p.m. before welcoming in Maryland Eastern Shore tomorrow at 3 p.m.
