Colonials post a season-high on vault in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY — Under the bright lights of Cox Convention Center, the George Washington gymnastics team put up a team score of 194.975 to finish fourth in the Perfect 10 Challenge on Friday evening.
The Colonials earned their 194.975 behind team scores of 48.800 on vault, a season-high, a 48.825 on bars, a 48.525 on beam, and a 48.825 on floor. Oklahoma took home the Perfect 10 title with a 198.075, Washington came in second with a 196.250, and Arizona State finished third with 195.650.
Out of six all-around competitions, fifth-year co-captain Alex Zois finished fourth with a 39.250, just .050 off her season-high. The Crofton, Md., native put up solid scores on all events, pacing the team on vault, bars, and floor, and recording a career-high matching 9.825 on vault. The 39.250 also marks the fourth time she has scored above the 39.00 threshold this season and the 12th time she has done so in her career.
ROTATION ONE
The Colonials got their start on bars, finishing with a 48.825. Leading the way were co-captains Zois and Julia McLaughlin with matching 9.800s. For McLaughlin, the 9.800 marked the third straight meet that she has matched her career high. Anna Warhol and Olivia Raymond followed closely behind with identical 9.750s, while Simone Banen finished with a 9.725 to round out the first rotation.
ROTATION TWO
GW then moved to beam, totaling a team score of 48.525. Hannah Cohen paced the squad with a 9.825 while Zois posted a 9.800 to clock in at No. 2 in the lineup. Raymond continued her momentum from the first rotation with a solid 9.725, while fellow first-years Banen and Zona earned scores of 9.600 and 9.575, respectively.
ROTATION THREE
The Colonials took to floor for the third rotation, finishing with a 48.825. For the fifth time this season, Crasa posted above a 9.800, scoring a 9.825, to lead the squad along with Zois. Rachel Kaplan added a 9.775, Banen earned a 9.750, and Raymond, in her floor debut, scored a 9.650 to close out the floor lineup.
ROTATION FOUR
GW wrapped up the night on vault, earning a season-high 48.800. Zois finished the night strong, leading the team to its season-high performance by matching her career-high at 9.825. Zona also had a strong night on vault, registering a season-high 9.800. Crasa earned a 9.800, as well, while McLaughlin posted a 9.775 and Chloe Vitoff recorded a 9.600.
UP NEXT
The Colonials will now return home to host Towson, Eastern Michigan and Kent State for Brownie and Girl Scout Day on Feb. 22 before heading to Kent State two days later for tri-meet action with the Golden Flashes and EAGL-foe NC State on Feb. 24.
