Colonials remain undefeated in A-10 action with 1-0 victory over Spiders
RICHMOND, Va. – The George Washington women's soccer team continued its hot streak in conference play on Sunday afternoon, topping Richmond, 1-0, on the road to remain undefeated in Atlantic 10 action.
After a quiet first half, the Colonials (9-1-2, 5-0-0 A-10) were able to get on the board with a goal from Allie Nornes.
With the victory, GW sits atop the Atlantic 10 standings along with Saint Louis, who also boasts a 5-0-0 record in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 77TH Minute – After a back-and-forth battle for the majority of the match, the Colonials were finally able to break the deadlock with a goal from Allie Nornes, her second of the season. Nornes took a pass from defender Hannah Zaluski and shot the ball just beyond the reach of the Spiders' keeper. GW 1, UR 0
NOTWORTHY
• With her assist on Nornes' goal, Zaluski extends her point streak to two straight games. The sophomore scored her first goal of the season against Massachusetts on Thursday.
• GW held the Spiders to just four shots on the day while recording eight of their own. The squad is outshooting its opponents 220-114 this season.
• The Colonials improve to 10-7-1 in the series against the Spiders, having won the last eight meetings.
• Keeper Tamaki Machi made two saves on the day.

GW will be on the road for both matchups next week, first wrapping up its non-conference slate at Delaware State on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. before traveling back down to Richmond on Sunday, Oct. 13 to face VCU for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
