Women's Soccer Celebrates Win Over Colgate

The George Washington women's soccer team remained unbeaten at home, handling business against Colgate on Sunday afternoon to the tune of a 3-0 shutout win. GW moves to 2-2-2 overall and 2-0 at home this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

6^th Minute – Anna Cornejo registered GW's first goal of the contest, taking a cross from Ariana Grounauer and redirecting it with her right foot past the Colgate keeper. The goal is Cornejo's first career score, while Gronauer picks up her second point of the season.
41^st Minute – GW doubled its lead just before halftime when Sophia Broz sent a lead pass to McKenna Wickman. Dashing down the field, Wickman beat the lone Colgate defender and sent a looping shot past the goalie for her second career score.
46^th Minute – With fans still finding their seats after the halftime break, Kate McGrath recorded GW's final goal of the day, taking a pass from Broz and slotting a shot into the top left corner of the goal. The goal is McGrath's first of 2026 and gave Broz her second assist of the day.

NOTEWORTHY

Jasmine Black earned her third shutout of the season, tallying one save in 90 minutes of work.
GW's stifling defense held Colgate to just seven shots, with only one being on target. GW tallied 18 shots on the day, putting seven on frame.
The Buff & Blue recorded an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. The Revolutionaries also finished ahead in the foul count, 11-4.
Cornejo led the offense with two shots on goal, while Caroline Donmoyer, Julia Bilal, Ella Provost-Heron, Naomi Kim, McGrath and Wickman each finished with one apiece.
