Behind an 11^th-minute goal from first-year Sophia Michel, the George Washington women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Richmond in the team's Atlantic 10 opener. GW moves to 3-3-3 on the season and remains unbeaten at home, holding 3-0-1 record at The Vern.

HOW IT HAPPENED

8^th Minute – Richmond's Christana Stamoulacatos opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the match's first 10 minutes.
11^th Minute – GW answered almost immediately, using Michel's unassisted goal to even the score for good. The goal is Michel's third of the season and second in her last two matches.

NOTEWORTHY

GW's Marley Gerber made her first start in net, tallying five saves.
The Buff & Blue recorded a 17-13 advantage in total shots, including a slight 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
GW also led in corner kicks, 4-2, while both teams were whistled for one offside.
Ella Provost-Heron (16^th minute) and Caroline Donmoyer (73^rd minute) were both issued yellow cards in the match for GW.
