Men's Swimming & Diving Takes Down Boston College

Four Colonials won two individual events apiece
WASHINGTON - Dylan Arzoni, George Aspougalis, Andrew Cho and Peter Nachtwey paced GW men's swimming and diving Saturday with two individual wins apiece in a 171.5-126.5 victory over Boston College at Smith Center Pool.
Making their home debut, the Colonials claimed 10 of 16 events in all to dispatch their ACC foe.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- GW kicked off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with Cho, Aspougalis, Max Forstenhaeusler and Tyler Kawakami finishing in 1:31.34.
- Aspougalis finished well clear of the field in both breaststroke events. The first-year from Greece won the 100 breast by more than three seconds in 56.52 seconds and the 200 breast by nearly six seconds in 2:06.63. He was also runner-up in the 200 IM behind his teammate Forstenhaeusler, who won in 1:55.14.
- Cho continued a strong start to his senior season by taking both backstroke races. The California native won the 100 back in 49.86 before taking the 200 back in 1:51.88.
- Arzoni was GW's top sprinter on the day with a win by more than two seconds over second-place Kawakami in the 200 free (1:41.89) and another victory in the 100 free (:46.82). The sophomore from England was also the top Colonial in the 100 fly with a third-place finish in 51.97 seconds.
- Nachtwey ruled the diving events, edging Boston College's Dale Nickerson on both boards. The 2019 A-10 Most Outstanding Diver posted a score of 289.58 on 3-meter and followed with a 282.45 on 1-meter.
- First-year Zach Hu led the Colonials with a runner-up finish in the 1,000 free (9:38.75), while DH Hwang was the top Buff and Blue swimmer in the 500 free (4:44.19).
UP NEXT: GW takes on another ACC opponent next Saturday when it visits Virginia Tech in dual-meet action.
