PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- For the second consecutive year GW's Logan Lowe advanced to the match play round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur which is being held this week in Pebble Beach, California.Â
Lowe was among a group of 312 golfers who competed in the stroke play portion of the championship, with only 64 advancing to match play. After opening with a 75 in the first round held at Spyglass Hills, Lowe responded emphatically by shooting 67 in round two at Pebble Beach.Â
His round at Pebble Beach, one of the most iconic courses in golf, included a streak of five birdies in a seven-hole span. On the front nine, Lowe shot a 4-under 31 with five pars and four birdies, before playing the back at even-par to card the 67 and finish tied for 10th at 1-under par overall.Â
In the round of 64, Lowe battled with Clay Feagler throughout a match that came down to the wire and featured four ties and five lead changes. Feagler was able to take the victory with a birdie on the 14th and an eagle on the 15th, overcoming a 1-down deficit to take the match 1-up.Â
Lowe qualified for this year's U.S. Amateur by winning his sectional qualifier at Woodmore Country Club on July 16-17 with a 5-under par 139. He also advanced to the round of 64 in 2017, falling to eventual champion Doc Redman.
