NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington baseball senior third basemen Isaiah Pasteur has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week while sophomore Elliott Raimo was named the conference's Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Pasteur extended his current hitting streak to 19 games with another dominant week at the plate as the Colonials won all four games with a midweek victory at William & Mary and a weekend sweep over North Carolina Central at Tucker Field.
He batted .450 (9-for-20) with two doubles, one home run and five RBI. He also scored six runs, walked once and stole a base while slugging .700 with an on-base percentage of .476. His week was highlighted by a standout performance in Sunday's series finale against NCCU when he went 4-for-6 at the plate with one home run, four RBI and three runs scored as the Colonials drubbed the Eagles, 19-7.
Pasteur is the first Colonial to earn three Player of the Week awards in the same season since GW Athletics Hall of Famer Mike Bassett accomplished the feat in 2002. Additionally, he is the first player in Atlantic 10 history to win or earn a share of three consecutive Player of the Week Awards.
Raimo earned his fourth career A-10 weekly award after a spectacular outing against NCCU on Friday afternoon. He tossed 8.2 innings of scoreless baseball with a career-high 12 strikeouts in an eventual 1-0 win. He retired 14 in a row over the first five innings, allowing just one baserunner via a walk while striking out nine. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and went on to surrender just four hits total along with the lone base on balls. In the game, he lowered his season ERA to a team-best 2.01.
Raimo earned Pitcher of the Week honors once last season in addition to three Rookie of the Week awards.
