Women's Tennis to Host Georgetown on Friday

SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis squad will face a pair of DMV opponents this weekend. The Colonials will first welcome crosstown rival Georgetown to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC) on Friday at 3 p.m. before making the trip up to Towson on Sunday for a 2 p.m. bout with the Tigers.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials (8-8, 3-1 A-10) split their weekend matches. The Buff and Blue downed Fordham on Friday, 6-1, with the squad sweeping the visiting Rams in doubles action and winning five of six matches in singles play. On Sunday, GW saw its Atlantic 10 win streak snapped at VCU, falling 6-0.
ABOUT GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas (3-10) have had a rough start to 2018 but picked up a much-needed victory over Richmond, 4-1, last Thursday. Georgetown earned the doubles point, winning two out of three sets, and took three singles wins to clinch the match.
SERIES HISTORY: Georgetown holds a 7-5 advantage in the series, with the Hoyas coming out on top in the teams' last five meetings.
ABOUT TOWSON: Towson enters the weekend even on the season with a 7-7 record. The Tigers fell to Drexel, 2-5, last Friday and will face Johns Hopkins, Maryland Eastern Shore, Coppin State and William and Mary before hosting the Colonials on Sunday.
SERIES HISTORY: The Colonials have dominated over their Maryland foe, edging out the Tigers in 13 of 14 meetings in program history. GW has won the last two matches against Towson, notching a 6-1 victory in 2016 and a 4-3 win in 2017.
