Men’s Basketball Tangles with Towson on Wednesday

The Colonials and Tigers are set for a 7 p.m. tip in Smith Center
TIPPING OFF: The GW men's basketball team plays the first of three consecutive games in the Charles E. Smith Center when the Towson Tigers make the short trip down to Washington for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday.
LAST TIME OUT: DJ Williams matched his career high with 17 points and Terry Nolan Jr. joined him in double figures with 11, but the Colonials fell at Princeton 73-52 on Saturday. First-year Shandon Brown and junior Justin Williams drew their first career starts as the Colonials were without the services of starters Armel Potter and Arnaldo Toro. Nolan helped pull GW within a possession of tying the game when his three-point play capped a 7-0 run to make it 48-45 with 8:34 to play, but Princeton went on a 13-0 run to pull away.
ABOUT TOWSON: The Tigers come in with a 2-5 record after falling to Vermont at home last Friday, 70-64. They have another common opponent with GW, having also played at Virginia to open the season and falling 73-42. A pair of junior guards in Brian Fobbs and Tobias Howard are pacing the squad in scoring with 14.1 points per game and 11.3 ppg, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY: GW has won nine of 10 all-time meetings in a series that dates back to 1978. The teams last played on Dec. 8, 2010, when the Colonials took a 73-67 win in Smith Center behind 18 points from Dwayne Smith. Towson's picked up its lone win over GW with a 57-56 triumph on Feb. 23, 1981.

This season, the Colonials have started at least four guards in seven of eight games.
