Swimming & Diving Primed for Dual-Meet Tests

Colonials face Penn State on Friday and Pittsburgh on Saturday
LAST TIME OUT:Â The Colonials spent last weekend at the TYR Fall Classic hosted by Florida International. The men finished third out of six squads with the women placing fourth out of eight.
Emils Pone was named A-10 Men's Performer of the Week after a strong season-opening effort highlighted by individual third-place finishes in the 400-yard individual medley (4:06.10) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.08).
Andrea Moussier picked up the conference's Women's Rookie of the Week award following strong swims in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.77) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.53).
Gemma Atherley was GW's lone individual winner, taking the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.25) and 200-yard backstroke (2:03.78).
SCOUTING PENN STATE:Â The Nittany Lions of the Big 10 were swept in dual-meet action by nationally ranked Virginia last weekend to open the season. They are led by senior Ally McHugh, who was recently named to the U.S. National Team.
SCOUTING PITTSBURGH:Â The Panthers opened the season last Saturday at Florida State, falling on both sides to the host Seminoles and Georgia Tech. The ACC program qualified two swimmers and two divers for NCAA competition in 2018.
COMING UP:Â GW has the next three weekends off from competition before hosting crosstown foe Howard at Charles E. Smith Center Pool on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
