Women’s Tennis Begins ITA Regionals on Friday

Colonials continue fall tournament play this weekend
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis squad is set to begin the annual ITA Atlantic Region Championships at Liberty's Cook Tennis Complex on Friday.
ACROSS THE NET: The ITA Atlantic Region includes schools located in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. GW and host Liberty will be joined by representatives from Delaware, Duquesne, Georgetown, Hampton, Howard, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Marshall, Maryland, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn State, Pitt, Radford, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Towson, VCU, Virginia, West Virginia, and William & Mary.
SET FOR SINGLES: Seniors Maria Siopacha and Sara Grubac along with junior Melis Bayraktaroglu will represent the Colonials in singles play. Grubac will begin singles action on Friday at 9 a.m. while Bayraktaroglu and 10th-seeded Siopacha will compete on Saturday at 10:30 a.m..
DOUBLE TROUBLE: The GW duos of Siopacha and Bayraktaroglu, and Victoria Kogan and Elena Schneider will pair up for doubles action. Siopacha and Bayraktaroglu are seeded 13th in the doubles bracket and will kickoff action on Saturday at 1 p.m. after receiving a bye in the first round. Kogan and Schneider will begin doubles play on Friday at 2 p.m.
