WASHINGTON - George Washington baseball head coach Gregg Ritchie and the USA Baseball Under 18 National Team concluded a historic run through the World Baseball Softball Confederation U18 World Cup to win the United States' fourth consecutive title on Sunday night in a 8-0 win over Korea at Port Arthur Stadium Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Team USA finished the tournament with a perfect 9-0 record to become just the second USA Baseball 18U National Team to go undefeated in World Cup play (1989) as the team won its fourth consecutive title.

Ritchie, serving as the hitting coach, helped Team USA to a .273 team batting average over the nine-game tournament. The squad slugged six home runs and a total of 37 extra-base hits. The team also logged 47 walks at the plate with a slugging percentage of .418 and an on-base percentage of .380.

Ritchie has had a busy summer working with USA Baseball. He was with the 18U National Team at the Tournament of Stars in Cary, North Carolina, in June and made a number of appearances over Major League Baseball's All-Star Weekend in Miami. He also served as an evaluator for the 2017 17U National Team Development Program (NDTP) in addition to previous stints as an assistant coach at the 17U NTDP and 18U National Team Trials.

New volunteer assistant coach Troy Marrow was also a part of the staff this summer. He served as the 18U National Team Director of Operations and will be arrive to Foggy Bottom with Coach Ritchie this month to help the Colonials prepare for the 2018 season.
