LEXINGTON, Va. - The George Washington baseball team rebounded on Saturday for a 6-5 win over VMI in game two of its three-game set at Gray-Minor Stadium. The Colonials fell in game one on Friday, 10-0, but will attempt to win its first series of the season in Sunday's rubber match.

Saturday: GW 6, VMI 5
Freshman Elliott Raimo pitched well to earn his first collegiate win on Saturday. He limited VMI to just two earned runs on five hits across six innings. He also struck out eight batters while walking only two.

A RBI single by junior Robbie Metz put the Colonials ahead right out of the gate in the first inning before VMI rebounded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead.

Junior catcher Brandon Chapman led off the top of the third inning with a solo home run, his third career long ball, to tie the game at 2-2. The Colonials added two more runs in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by junior Mark Osis and a run-scoring fielding error.

GW extended its lead to 6-2 in the top of the fifth in a near identical sequence to the fifth. Osis brought one run home on a sac fly ahead of another error, one of four for VMI on the afternoon, that allowed another run to cross the plate.

Senior Eddie Muhl pitched the final three innings for the Colonials. He yielded a trio of runs but was able to turn away the Keydets in the ninth inning for his first save of the season. GW's all-time saves leader, Muhl now has 30 career saves.

Friday: VMI 10, GW 0
A five-run sixth inning was the turning point of a 10-0 loss for GW on Friday afternoon in the series opener. Colonials' pitchers struggled throughout the afternoon, with five pitchers combining to walk 12 batters.

Offensively, the Colonials totaled seven hits, but got multiple hits in an inning just once. Metz and junior Cody Bryant tallied two base knocks apiece.
