Baseball Falls in Marathon Series Opener to Davidson

After Davidson tallied the game's first run in the first, lightning in the vicinity of the field forced a near 90-minute weather delay in the bottom half of the game's opening frame. After returning to action, GW posted two runs in the second, both on singles from Travis Peitz and Jack Kent.
Connor Jones added to the lead in the fourth, singling through the right side to score Charlie Walsh. Just before a second delay, Davidson tied the game with a two-RBI single, knotting the game back up at three apiece before a 30-minute pause.
After returning to action, GW's Nick Mullen put the Buff & Blue back on top, singling through the left side to score Cristino Tufano and Robbie Lavey.
Davidson was in control the rest of the way, plating runs in the sixth, seventh and five in the ninth to secure the series opener.
Matt Bruno was charged with the loss in relief, dropping him to 0-2 on the season. Max Haug started for the Revolutionaries, tossing 4.1 innings in relief and allowing three earned runs.
GW looks to even the series tomorrow, hosting Davidson at noon. Prior to the game, GW will award the Warren Fulton III Memorial Award at approximately 11:45 a.m.
