Women's Tennis' Bayraktaroglu Named Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington women's tennis' Melis Bayraktaroglu has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Bayraktroglu's stellar play helped the Colonials grab three wins in three days over the weekend.
The Istanbul, Turkey, native went undefeated in singles action at the No. 3 position, taking straight-set victories over her opponents from Towson and Morgan State. The rookie wrapped her weekend with a three-set triumph on the road over her Delaware foe.
In doubles play, Bayraktaroglu grabbed two wins with sophomore partner Maria Siopacha at the top spot against Morgan State and Delaware.
The freshman has a 5-2 dual match solo record so far this spring, matching Siopacha for a team-high in victories.
