GW Golf Wraps Play at VCU Janney Invitational

TUCKAHOE, Virginia -- The George Washington golf team wrapped play in the rain-shortened VCU Janney Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Country Club of Virginia Tuckahoe Creek Course.
Originally scheduled to be a 54-hole event with two rounds on the slate Monday followed by the third and final on Tuesday, rain shortened the competition to 36 holes. Sophomore Logan Lowe led the Colonials as he closed with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday and was T-53rd overall after opening with a 77.
Senior Lucas Farmer finished T-55th at 7-over (77-74=151), redshirt junior Christian Cichan was T-60th at 8-over (75-77=152), senior Michael Heda was T-65th at 9-over (77-76=153) and sophomore Vince Palazzolo came in T-69th (82-73=155).
As a team, GW finished 14th with a score of 602 (306-296). Virginia Tech took the team title with a 28-under par 548, while Joey Lane of Virginia Tech birdied on the sixth hole of a sudden-death playoff to defeat Ryan Cole of James Madison for individual medalist honors.
The Colonials are back in action on October 3-4 when they head to the NC State Wolfpack Invitational in Raleigh, N.C.
