GW Baseball Visits Dayton for Three-Game Set

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team resumes Atlantic 10 conference play when it visits Dayton for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Woerner Field.
The top seven teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship, May 25-29, at Fordham.
LAST TIME OUT: GW split a pair of midweek non-conference games, downing Towson, 9-4, on Tuesday afternoon before dropping a narrow, 2-1, decision at Georgetown on Wednesday night. The Colonials are 6-4 in their past 10 games.
TEAM RANKS: GW currently ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in team batting average (.285), hits (378), doubles (69), triples (12) and stolen bases (46). GW also leads the league in sacrifice bunts (33).
CANT STOP CAMPBELL: The reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, junior Bobby Campbell continues to be a force at the plate for the Colonials. In his past 11 games he is batting an even .500 (22-for-44) with seven multiple-hit games, one home run, four doubles and 13 RBIs. He enters the weekend second on the team with a .354 batting average, .416 on-base percentage, 23 runs scored, 31 RBIs, 14 doubles and 12 walks.
BOBBY THE BULL: Senior ace Bobby LeWarne is putting together a career year in his final season in the Buff and Blue. He currently ranks second in the conference with 62.2 innings pitched, averaging 6.96 innings per start. He is 5-2 across nine starts with a 3.16 ERA with 37 strikeouts and opponents are batting just .244 against him. LeWarne will be on the bump for Friday's series opener.
TWO FOR YOU: GW ranks second in the conference and 63rd in NCAA with 69 doubles. Junior Kevin Mahala leads the A-10 and is 10th in the Division I with 16 two-baggers while Campbell is second in the A-10 and 28th in the nation with 14.
SCOUTING DAYTON: Dayton enters the weekend with a 13-25 overall and 4-8 mark in the Atlantic 10. The Flyers are batting .245 as a team with 52 doubles, 17 home runs and 34 steals in 38 games.
Cam Silva paces the lineup with a .319 average and 11 RBIs while Robbie Doring is batting .299 with 17 extra-base hits and 26 RBIs.
On the mound, Dayton boasts a staff ERA of 4.64 ERA with 219 strikeouts against 149 walks across 331.6 innings.
SERIES HISTORY: GW swept the Flyers in a three-game series last season at Tucker Field to extend its advantage in the all-time series to 39-15.
