LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team takes a break from Atlantic 10 conference play for a pair of midweek games. The Colonials will host Towson on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park before making the short trip to face Georgetown on Wednesday evening in Bethesda, Maryland.
BRING YOUR BROOMS: GW is aiming for the season sweep of Towson after last week's 10-2 road win. Bobby Campbell went 4-for-5 with three runs, one home run and two RBIs in the win as the Colonials pounded out 15 hits. GW's bullpen provided five innings of shutout relief as sophomore Chance Malek and seniors Randy Dalrymple and Luke Olson combined to shutdown the Tigers in the later innings.
HOT HITTING: GW ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with a team batting average of .283. GW is led at the plate by sophomore Mark Osis (.390, 18 RBIs), junior Bobby Campbell (.357, 14 2B, 3 HR, 29 RBIs) and junior Joey Bartosic (.302, 6 2B, 12 RBIs, 11 SB).
DOUBLE UP: GW ranks second in the conference with 68 doubles, led by 16 from junior Kevin Mahala (1st in A-10, 8th in NCAA) and 14 from Campbell (2nd in A-10, 24th in NCAA).
PLAYER OF WEEK: Campbell was honored as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday after hitting a torrid .615 (8-of-13) across four games last week. The Olney, Maryland, native has been on fire lately, batting .583 (21-of-36) with 11 RBIs over his past nine games.
SCOUTING TOWSON: The Tigers are 14-23 on the season and have lost five games in a row entering Tuesday's game. Their last win came on April 10 against James Madison. Brady Policelli paces the lineup with a .384 batting average in addition to team-best five home runs and 31 RBIs. Towson is batting .276 as a team with a combined staff ERA of 5.09.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas are 17-20 on the season after taking two-of-three games from Xavier over the weekend at home. Michael DeRenzi leads the lineup with a .348 batting average while a trio of players - Joseph Bialkowski (24 RBIs), Jake Kuzbel (22 RBIs) and Charlie Dillon (21 RBIs) - have totaled 20+ RBIs.
