WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team closes the regular season with a pair of weekend road matches. The Colonials will visit Revolutionary Rival George Mason on Friday before taking on Maryland.
The Colonials (5-12, 1-4 A-10) look to snap a five-match skid in the final weekend of regular-season play.
Despite battling injury, sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps holds an 8-2 dual match record this spring, seeing time at the Nos. 2-5 positions. Classmate Teodora Radosavljevic has posted an 8-8 mark, all at the top spot, for the Colonials.
George Mason (9-12, 2-4 A-10) will wrap its regular season when GW visits Fairfax, Virginia. The Patriots' Esu Erdenebat leads the squad in singles play with a 12-8 mark while seeing time at the Nos. 3-6 positions. On the doubles court, the pair of Nicole Haigwood and Morgan Yang own a 7-2 dual match record with decisions at each step of the ladder.
Last season the Colonials downed Mason, 4-1, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship, as Radosavljevic, Decamps and junior Taylor Nederlander each grabbed solo wins after GW took the doubles point.
Maryland (8-10) boasts the nation's No. 86 doubles pair of Alexandra Stanova and Kristina Hovsepyna. The duo takes a 8-3 spring record into Saturday's match, playing at the top spot.
In singles action, Arnelle Sullivan paces the Terrapins with an 8-6 record, competing in the top two spots of the ladder in 2016. Sullivan is followed by Nataliya Brekihina's 7-8 record, primarily playing at the Nos. 1-3 positions
The Colonials last met Maryland in the 2014 spring season opener, as the Terrapins claimed a 6-2 victory.
Friday's match at George Mason is slated for 3:30 p.m., and first serve in College Park, Maryland, on Saturday is scheduled for 12 p.m. Both matches feature Atlantic Region foes.
