HOUSTON - The George Washington baseball fell in its final game at Houston, 14-0, on Sunday afternoon at Schroeder Park.
Houston (16-7) starter Seth Romero fired eight innings of one-hit ball to earn the victory. He yielded one walk and struck out seven. Tanner Lawson worked a scoreless ninth inning for the Cougars.
Junior Kevin Mahala picked up the lone hit for the Colonials.
The Cougars scored twice in both the first and second innings to build a 4-0 cushion. They added single runs in both the fourth and fifth before exploding in a five-run sixth to extend the lead to 11-0. Three more runs came across in the eighth inning for the final 14-0 margin.
GW returns home to host UMBC on Tuesday at Tucker Field at Barcorft Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
