WASHINGTON - Senior Jack Persons posted the team's top finish and freshman Zack Bailey matched his best showing of the season to pace GW golf at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate over the weekend.
Persons recorded consistent rounds of 3-over-par 74, 4-over 75 and 5-over 76 to tie for 25th place out of 75 players at 12-over 225 on the par-71, 7,202-yard Penn State Blue Course.
Bailey equaled his lowest round of the spring with a second-round 2-over 73 on his way to a tie for 31st, matching his finish in his collegiate debut at the Patriot Intercollegiate in September, at 14-over 227 (76-73-78).
Led by Persons and Bailey, GW finished in ninth place in the 12-team field at 63-over 915 (308-297-310), edging A-10 rivals St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's by three and five shots, respectively.

Competing as an individual, freshman Jack Porcelli matched his season-low score of even-par 71 in the second round en route to a tie for 56th place at 22-over 235 (82-71-82).
Powered by a tournament-best second round of 276, host Penn State posted a 16-over 868 team total for an eight-shot victory over runner-up Eastern Michigan. Binghamton's Jack Sedgewick and Georgetown's Sam Madsen tied atop the individual leaderboard at 1-under 212, with Sedgewick edging out Madsen in a playoff for first place.
The Colonials will face the Bonnies and Hawks again, along with their eight other league rivals, in the upcoming 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Florida, from April 24-26.
