WASHINGTON - For the first and final time this season, the George Washington women's tennis team will host an outdoor match at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus as local foe UMBC visits on Friday afternoon.
The Colonials (4-10, 0-2 A-10) look to snap an eight-match skid after dropping a pair of matches to Old Dominion and Atlantic 10 foe Richmond over the weekend. The Retrievers (4-10) have fallen in five of their last six matches, most recently splitting a doubleheader on Sunday, blanking Hartford, 7-0, before falling to No. 22 Ohio State, 6-0.
Freshman Teodora Radosavljevic has triumphed in four of her last six singles matches, all at the No. 1 slot, including a pair of victories over conference opponents from Davidson and Richmond. The rookie holds a team-best 9-5 solo record this spring.
The Buff and Blue has won its last two matches against UMBC, coming out on top, 6-1, a year ago while securing a 5-2 victory in 2013. Junior Lana Robins triumphed both years, while classmate Egle Jakuciunaite and sophomores Taylor Nederlander and Grace Egger notched wins last season.
First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at the GW Tennis Center. Fans can keep up with the action by following @GWWomensTennis on Twitter.
