Lowe Leading GW Golf at Hummingbird Intercollegiate

SAPPHIRE, N.C. -- Freshman Logan Lowe led the George Washington golf team in the opening round of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate by shooting an even-par 71.
The tournament, slated for 36 holes with 18 on Sunday and another 18 Monday, is the final of the fall season for the Colonials. Lowe shot 35 going out and 36 coming in for his even-par 71, which included an eagle on the par-5 6th. Lowe, who is in a tie for 23rd, is five shots back of tournament leader Oskar Lundgren of Brevard College who fired a 5-under 66 on Sunday.
Michael Heda provided a highlight for the Colonials, making it three years in a row a GW golfer has recorded an ace during the fall season when he made a hole-in-one on number 7 which was playing 212 yards. Heda went on to shoot a 76 and is tied for 46th.
Christian Cichan was just behind Heda after shooting an opening-round 77 while Vince Palazzolo and Lucas Farmer shot 79.
Teams are set to tee off in the final round at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
