WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team will resume fall tournament play over the weekend at the Blue & Gold Invitational hosted by Navy. The three-day tournament will be the fourth competition for the Colonials this fall.
Senior Egle Jakuciunaite, juniors Taylor Nederlander and Allison Hansen and freshman Victoria Kogan will represent the Colonials.
The Blue & Gold Invite is slated to begin on Friday at noon and will continue throughout the remainder of the weekend with matches beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Play will take place at the Brigade Sports Complex's Tose Family Tennis Center and the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium, which include both indoor and outdoor courts.
In addition to GW and host Navy, representatives from Delaware, George Mason, Howard, LIU Brooklyn, Loyola, Princeton, Seton Hall and Stony Brook will compete at the tournament.
Jakuciunaite and Hansen played at the Saint Joseph's Invitational (Sept. 11-13) to open the fall, and both carry a 2-1 singles record into the weekend. Participating in both the Saint Joseph's Invite and the UVa Fall Invitational (Sept. 25-27), Kogan takes a 2-5 solo mark into the Blue & Gold Invite. Nederlander began her fall season at the Elon Invitational (Sept. 11-13) and will look to grab her first victory of the fall this weekend.
