GW Baseball Hosts Massachusetts in Key A-10 Series

GW (11-22, 4-8 A-10) has won three of its last five games, including taking two of three from La Salle last weekend in Philadelphia for its first A-10 series victory of the season.
Senior Owen Beightol, batting a team-best .333 entering the weekend, hit a torrid .647 in five games last week with four doubles and three RBIs. The Richmond, Va., native leads GW with 13 multiple-hit games while pacing the team in doubles (11), home runs (2) and walks (11).
Junior Ryan Xepoleas carries an eight-game hit streak into Friday's game and is batting .320 this season. He leads the team with 16 RBIs and three triples while ranking second with 10 doubles and six stolen bases.
GW's pitching staff ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 with a staff ERA of 4.67 with the Colonials' weekend rotation of senior Aaron Weisberg and sophomores Jacob Williams and Bobby LeWarne posting a combined ERA of 3.54.
Senior Colin Milon has been strong out of the bullpen, posting a 2.49 ERA and earning six saves in a team-high 14 appearances. He has registered 16 strikeouts this season against just three walks.
Saturday's game will be the inaugural Bark at Barcroft Day, as fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the park for the 1 p.m. game.
Starting at 11 a.m., pet owners will have the opportunity to enter the DogZone, a special area located inside the gates of Barcroft Park where local vendors will provide various dog-related services, free giveaways, information and dog-related advice.
