WASHINGTON, DC - Junior Andres Pumariega was named the men's golf team Most Valuable Player at George Washington University's annual Senior Honors Luncheon Thursday on the GW campus.
Pumariega, who is currently in Florida with the team at the A-10 Championship, accomplished a feat this season that no other GW golfer has when he won three straight events at the end of March and earlier this month. The Miami, FL, native leads the team with a 75.1 stroke average and shot the Colonials' low single-round score of the season with a three-under-par 69 in the third round of a tournament at Myrtle Beach in March. In his first season at GW, he has three Top-5 finishes, four Top-10 finishes and five Top-20 finishes in nine tournaments.
