BETHANY BEACH, DE - GW's Tyler Wendelken carded a three-round 218 to tie for 13th place in the 96-player field of the 12th Annual GW Golf Invitational Friday and Saturday on the Delaware Shore. Wendelken's effort helped the GW B Team to a tie for fifth place in the 16-team field, five strokes behind the Colonials' A Team which combined to shoot 885(295-301-289).
The Colonials' B Team tied Penn, coached by former GW coach Scott Allen.
Missouri ran away from the field with a 32-stroke victory over runner-up Yale. The Tigers' Chris Johnson, William Harrold and Stuart Ballingall placed 1-2-3 among the 96 individuals. Johnson fired a 199 (66-68-65) to win medalist honors followed by teammate Harrold's 205 (72-67-66).
Wendelken was the low Colonial followed by senior Cole Turner (72-77-70) and Max Hamm (72-76-71), each with 219s to tie for 17th place. Wendelken led the field with 43 pars over the 54-hole event. GW Junior Brendan Barrack tied for 27th place with a 223 (79-71-73) and recorded a team-best 14 birdies followed by Hamm with 12.
GW next competes in the adidas Hoosier Invitational hosted by Indiana University, April 3-4, in Bloomington, IN.
