Golf Takes Second at Caves Valley Spring Intercollegiate

OWINGS MILLS, MD -- George Washington's Brendan Barrack carded a one-under-par 141 to tie for first place in the 36-hole Caves Valley Spring Intercollegiate men's golf tournament Saturday and Sunday near Baltimore. His effort helped propel the Colonials to a second-place finish. Harvard won tournament. GW and Bucknell joined six Ivy League schools: Brown, Cornell, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale in the tournament hosted by the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile in Annapolis, MD, the Colonials sent a four-man `B Team' to the Navy Spring Invitational where they placed fifth in the 16-team field with a team total of 603 (305-298), one stroke behind third-place St. Francis-PA and 24 strokes off the pace set by champion Johnson & Wales University (579).
Colonials sophomore Max Hamm was outstanding with a four-over 146 (73-73) to tie for fourth in the 95-player field just four strokes behind medalist Trevor Fielder's 142, of Binghamton. GW freshman Brandon Rukin's 148, which included a second-round 69, was good for a 13th-place tie while fellow freshman and A-10 Rookie of the Week, Martin Liu, tied for 21st with a 150 (75-75). The tournament was held at the par-71, 6,528-yard U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course.
The Colonials' next competition will be at the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship on April 24-26 at Orlando, FL. The three-day 54-hole championship takes place at the par-72, 7,003-yard Mission Inn Golf Club.
