TERRE HAUTE, IN - Megan Hogan will run in her second straight NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, November 23rd, after finishing 96th out of the 252 top runners in the country in the 2008 event. Hogan became the first Colonial runner to qualify for NCAA Nationals last season and will look to continue her achievement of milestones for George Washington Cross Country in the 2009 race.
"The NCAA's is always such a deep field," said Head Coach Brian Beil. "It really comes down to how you manage the course. Megan, on her best day, can run with this field, but the same can be said for most of these runners. We are all hoping for All-American status (a top-40 finish), but so much can happen in a race like this. Just to make it back here to Terre Haute and qualify for this Cross Country National Championship is a tremendous accomplishment."
Indiana State University will host the Championships, on Nov. 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course, located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The men's race will begin at approximately 12:08 pm (EST), followed by the women's race at approximately 12:58 pm (EST). Both championship races will be broadcast live on Versus Network and streamed online via NCAA.com. The University of Oregon is the two-time defending men's team champion, while the University of Washington will defend its title on the women's side.
The live telecast on Versus marks the first time ever that the cross country championship will be broadcast in high definition. This is the third consecutive year that the Division I Cross Country National Championships will be broadcast on live television.
There will also be a live video link on NCAA.com that will be created on the day of the race.
