Women's Tennis Drops a Pair of Matches in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington women's tennis (4-7, 0-3 A-10) lost to Xavier on Friday afternoon and then, on Sunday, dropped their conference match against Temple as well. Both matches were played at Temple University.
In Friday's contest against Xavier, the Musketeers claimed the doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead. GW rallied in singles play and won three of the first five matches, including No. 1 seed Kendall Swenson's 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 victory. The top three spots all required the full three sets to determine a winner.
For Xavier, head coach Jim Brockhoff became just the second NCAA-Division I coach in history to reach 1,000 wins. Brockhoff is the only active coach with 1,000 victories and joins retired Hawaii coach Jim Schwitters in the exclusive club.
On Sunday, the Owls were too much for the Colonials, as Temple cruised to the victory, 7-0.
GW, nearing the end of their regular season schedule, plays at Towson on Friday, April 6th, and then hosts Coppin State on Saturday.
