Senior Josh Wilkie earns A-10 Honor after opening day win at JMU.

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University RHP Josh Wilkie (Alpharetta, GA / Chattahoochee) was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance Thursday in the Colonials' opening day victory at James Madison University, the conference announced.

Wilkie threw 7.0 shutout innings, struck out a career-high10 batters and did not allow a walk in GW's 4-1 victory against the Dukes.

The senior never got into trouble as he yielded just five hits and, at one point, retired nine straight batters, seven by strikeout.

Fordham's RHP Javier Martinez also earned the weekly honor.

GW returns to the diamond on Tuesday when it again sends Wilkie to the mound in its game against the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

First pitch is set for 4:00 pm.
