GW Baseball Announces Winter Baseball Camp Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington Baseball Coach Tom Walter will lead his annual Baseball Camp for the third time this December. Designed for baseball players ages 7-18, the camp will be instructed by Walter's entire coaching staff as well as current and former players, several of whom are playing in the Minor Leagues. 2003 World Series participant and New York Yankees' catcher John Flaherty will be a guest speaker as well as Sam Perlozzo who currently coaches for the Baltimore Orioles. Both guest speakers played for the Colonials and are members of the GW Baseball Hall of Fame.
Tom Walter's Baseball Camp will have four hitting sessions and one session for pitchers and catchers. The hitting sessions will be on four Sunday's from 6 pm - 9 pm. The hitting sessions will take place on Sunday, December 14, 21 and 28 concluding with a final session on January 11, 2004. The pitcher and catcher session will also take place on January 11 from 9 am - 4 pm. The cost for the four hitting sessions is $150, or $50 for an individual session. The seven-hour pitching and catching clinic on January 11, 2004 costs $100.
All of the sessions of Tom Walter's Baseball Camp will take place at Smith Center on the George Washington University Campus. Smith Center is located at 600 22nd Street, NW, Washington DC and is Metro accessible via the Orange and Blue lines at the GW/Foggy Bottom station. Participants will be divided by age to ensure that each player maximizes his potential.
The four three-hour hitting camps will cover all aspects of hitting and baserunning including video analysis, weight training, and the mental approach to hitting. Participants will enjoy plenty of live hitting. Pitchers will learn all aspects of pitching learning the mental approach to pitching well. Each pitcher will develop an off-season and between starts program. Catchers will receive comprehensive defensive and offensive instruction which will also include video analysis and weight training. Each player will learn the latest techniques to prepare him mentally and physically for the next level.
