Krimmel Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Matt Krimmel (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week the conference office has announced. This marks Krimmel's first A-10 honor this season. Krimmel was also recognized as the National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for his impressive batting last week, the organization has announced.
Krimmel played and started all seven games this week, in which the Colonials won five. He collected 12 hits in 23 at-bats (.611), with an impressive four home runs and 16 RBIs. He went three-for-five in GW's 11-10 losing battle to Richmond on April 29, with two doubles and an RBI single to score three. Krimmel then went four-for-five and knocked in seven against George Mason on April 30. Two of his hits were round-trippers, one a game-winning grand slam for a 10-7 victory. He hit his third homer of the week in GW's 8-3 win over Mount St. Mary's. Krimmel also managed to drive in four runs in all against Duquesne over the weekend, two in the first game of the three-game series on May 4 and two in the final game, on May 5, on a two-run home run.
Krimmel leads the Colonials this season in doubles (20), total plate appearances (215) and is tied for first in runs scored (53).
Krimmel and the Colonials next host Towson University this afternoon, Tuesday, May 7, at Barcroft Park. The game will be begin at 4:00 p.m.
