Bassett Receives Third Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Mike Bassett (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week the conference office has announced. This marks Bassett's third A-10 honor this season. For last week's play, he also has been named the Division I ECAC Co-Player of the Week.
Bassett played and started all four games this week, in which the Colonials won three and dropped a close battle. He collected 11 hits in 18 at-bats (.611). Three of his hits were round-trippers, one a tie-breaking shot in the bottom of the 10th inning to score two runs against the University of Richmond Spiders for a final 4-2 margin on April 27. Bassett went six-for-six with two homers and four RBIs in the Colonials' 14-8 victory over Towson on April 24. Besides blasting three home runs, he also hit two doubles, scored six runs in all, and notched 7 RBIs.
Bassett holds the GW career records for home runs (57), RBIs (235), and total bases (480). This season he leads the Colonials in at-bats (159), total bases (113), hits (60), RBIs (58), and homers (14).
Bassett and the Colonials next host George Mason University this afternoon, Tuesday, April 30 at Barcroft Park. The game will be begin at 3:00 p.m.
