GW Baseball Is Going To Disney World Colonials Qualify for Second Consecutive Atlantic 10 Tournament
Washington, DC (May 14, 2001) - The George Washington University Baseball team has qualified for the 2001 Verizon Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament to be held in Lake Buena Vista, FL beginning on Thursday, May 17.
The fourth-seeded Colonials (35-21 overall, 13-9 Atlantic 10) will play the number one-seeded Massachusetts Minutemen (26-17 overall, 16-6 Atlantic 10) on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. The second-seeded Dayton Flyers (32-24 overall, 15-7 Atlantic 10) will play the third-seeded Temple Owls (24-28 overall, 15-7 Atlantic 10) on Thursday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Championship play continues on Friday, May 18 with loser's bracket play at 12:30 p.m. and winner's bracket play at 4:00 p.m. The winner of Game 3 will then meet the loser of Game 4 at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The title game of the Verizon Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. If a seventh game is needed, it will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
The Colonials will send sophomore Greg Conden (Owego, NY/ Owego Free Academy) to the mound in Game 1. Conden, 8-4 with a 3.84 ERA, has won seven of his past eight starts.
