The Win Extends the Colonials' Winning Streak to Seven
Washington, DC (April 6) - The George Washington baseball team defeated Howard University 14-7 at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA to extend their winning streak to seven games.
The Colonials' used a seven-run second inning to help defeat the Bison. The inning was capped of with a grand-slam by sophomore Matt Krimmel (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland), his third home run of the season. For the day, Krimmel went 2-3 with four RBI's.
In the game, all but one Colonial starter collected a hit. Krimmel, junior Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin), and senior Ryan Hauseman (Pottstown, PA/The Hill School) led the way for the Colonials. Belicic connected four his third home run of the season and added a RBI double on the day, and Hauseman went 2-4 with three RBI's.
Redshirt junior Ron Christie (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) earned his second win on the season to improve his record to 2-0. Christie pitched five innings, only allowing two earned runs while striking out five Bison batters.
GW travels to Philadelphia, PA this weekend to take on conference foe St. Joseph's in a three-game series. A double-header is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m., and the third game is set for Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
