Beichert Named to ABCA All-East Region Team

WASHINGTON, DC (June 8, 1999) -- George Washington University baseball player, Joe Beichert (Hurley, NY/John Coleman), has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-East Region second team.
Beichert received the honor for his record-breaking performances this year. As GW's clean-up hitter, Beichert established new school records for career home runs (50), single-season home runs (23), single-season RBIs (77) and career RBIs (171). An Atlantic 10 All-Conference first-team selection, Beichert led the Conference in home runs and RBIs throughout the season. The senior first baseman finished the season with a .349 average.
The Colonials ended the season with a 27-30 record, 10-11 in the A-10. GW's Conference record placed them in a four-way tie for second place in the West Division with La Salle, Duquesne and Xavier.
