Golf Finishes Fourth at Caves Valley Collegiate Invitational

OWINGS MILLS, MD (November 8, 1999) - The GW Golf team placed fourth in the 10-
team Cave's Valley Collegiate Invitational Sunday and Monday at Owings Mills,
MD. GW sophomore Bryan Derdenger was the individual runner-up after carding a
nine-over-par 151 (74-77). He was eight strokes off the pace set by Temple's
Chris Bartolacci (71-72 - 143). The tournament, hosted by the University of
Delaware, was played at the par-71, 6,720-yard Cave's Valley Golf Club near
Baltimore.
Fellow Colonial Thomas Blankvoort fired a 12-over-par 154 (81-73) to tie for fifth in the 36-hole tournament.
Sophomore Tim Derdenger was the next lowest Colonial two strokes behind Blankvoort at 156 (75-81) placing him eighth among 50 individuals.
Temple won the team title with a 619. The Owls were 13 strokes ahead of runner- up Towson University.

It marked the final Fall event for the Colonials. GW's next competition will be March 6-7, 2000 at the Kingsmill Invitational, hosted by the College of William & Mary, at Williamsburg, VA.
