Torrie Browning was named head coach of GW's women's tennis program in July 2016 after serving as interim head coach of both GW's men's and women's programs beginning in February 2016.
In the spring of 2021, Browning led the team to an Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals apperance after riding a six-match win streak to close out the regular season. Browning helped three Colonials take home five A-10 All-Conference awards following the completion of the season. Stella Wiesemann was named Most Outstanding Rookie of the Year, the first rookie to do so since 2000.
In 2018 - The Colonials broke into the top-10 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final regional rankings for the first time in program history, capping its 2017-18 season at No. 8 in the Atlantic Region. GW closed the season with their most wins (14) since 2012 and posted a program-best 6-1 conference record during the regular season.
In 2017 - Coach Browning's first full season as head coach - the GW women's tennis squad tallied an overall record of 11-10, finishing above the .500 mark for the first time since the 2014 season. Three Colonials earned All-Conference honors in 2017.
Browning took GW's women's squad deep into the 2016 A-10 Championship, advancing to the semifinal round as the seventh seed after upsetting second-seeded Massachusetts in the quarterfinals. Browning also led GW's men's team to its fifth Atlantic 10 title in the last six seasons en route to the league's Coach of the Year nod.
Browning coached eight student-athletes to A-10 All-Conference honors in 2016.
