WASHINGTON – Head Coach Jackie Calla and the George Washington women's tennis program are thrilled to announce the signing of Laura Damm. Laura becomes Coach Calla's first incoming student-athlete since taking over the program in August.
"We're thrilled to welcome Laura Damm to GW tennis," Calla said. "From the start, it was clear she has the ambition, work ethic and character we value in this program. Her competitiveness, skills, and drive will make an immediate impact on and off the court. We're excited to have her join us at Foggy Bottom and to welcome her to our program."
A standout at IMG Academy, Damm arrives in Foggy Bottom as a five-star recruit and one of the nation's top young talents. She is ranked No. 17 in Florida and No. 97 nationally by the Tennis Recruiting Network.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of GW tennis," said Damm. "I look forward to embracing the team culture, working hard and enjoying every competition!"
Damm brings an impressive list of accomplishments, highlighted by titles at the USTA L2 and L3 Doubles Tournaments and a singles championship at the J60 Santo Domingo.
Tennis excellence runs deep in the Damm family. Her father, Martin Damm, is a former world-class professional who captured the 2006 US Open men's doubles title and reached as high as No. 5 in the world in doubles and No. 42 in the world in singles. Her brother, Martin Damm Jr., is also a rising professional, holding the highest ATP singles ranking of his career this month at No. 173.
