Albert "Al" Lipscomb III enters his second season with GW in 2024-25. During his first season in 2023-24, Lipscomb helped guide GW to a 13-18 overall record, falling to Saint Louis in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship. His leadership also helped produce historic numbers for Mayowa Taiwo, who finished with 1,037 career rebounds, the third-most in program history for a single player. Taiwo was also named to the Atlantic 10's Preseason All-Conference All-Defensive Team, while sophomore guard Nya Robertson was named to the league's All-Conference Third Team.
Lipscomb came to George Washington from Georgetown, where he has served in multiple roles from 2017-23 with the Hoyas' women's basketball program. From 2021-23, Lipscomb was the Director of Video Operations as well as an Interim Assistant Coach. Lipscomb oversaw and coordinated all team video operations and developed scouting reports. Additionally, Lipscomb coordinated and conducted player development workouts for guards and post players.
A two-time graduate from Georgetown, Lipscomb earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government in 2019 and received his Master's of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management as a Graduate Coaching Assistant in 2021.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Lipscomb originally came to the District in 2015. During his undergraduate studies, Lipscomb was the head women's basketball team manager and worked closely with Georgetown's various intramural programs.
