Women’s Basketball Falls to Rhode Island, Concludes Season

HENRICO, Va. – The George Washington women's basketball team fell to Rhode Island in the second round of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday afternoon, 52-41. The Revolutionaries finish the 2024-25 season with a 13-18 overall record.
The GW Revs started the game well, leading by as many as many as five in the first period. Makayla Andrews was GW's spark early on, putting in seven first-quarter points to lead all scorers through the first 10 minutes. Sara Lewis was also solid for the Buff & Blue, recording six in the first period.
Rhode Island battled back in the second quarter, outscoring GW by four to take a two-point lead into halftime. In the third, GW's defense held Rhode Island to zero made baskets. Despite stout defense, the Rams still managed to outscore the Revolutionaries, 9-6, in the period, with all nine points coming at the free-throw line.
Despite its best efforts, GW couldn't complete the fourth-quarter comeback. GW finishes with a 13-18 record for the second consecutive year and exits in the second round of the A-10 Tournament in back-to-back years.
Andrews led the team with 14 points, while Kamari Sims notched 11 off GW's bench. Gabby Reynolds concluded her all-rookie season with seven points and four rebounds. Paige Mott grabbed 10 boards, leading GW on the glass.
