WASHINGTON - School Day youth along with GW Faculty & Staff were treated to a thriller in a midweek matinee on Wednesday at the Charles E. Smith Center when George Washington and Massachusetts met for the final time as A-10 conference foes.
The back-and-forth affair was tight throughout as neither side led by more than eight. After five ties and another handful of lead changes, the game was knotted after a Kamari Sims' three evened the ledger at 55 with 1:21 to play, but UMass went on to score the game's final half-dozen over the final 81 seconds, capturing a 61-55 win.
Sims' 10 points trailed only Paige Mott's 11 for team-high scoring honors, while Megan Olbrys led the guests with 20. Sara Lewis pulled down a career-high 11 boards, leading all players in that department.
The Revolutionaries close the regular season Saturday at Rhode Island at 1 p.m. before turning its attention to the 2025 A-10 Championship tournament next week in Henrico, Va. The action begins at the Henrico Sports & Events Center on Wednesday, March 5th, with the Buff & Blue's seed and opponent to be announced following the conclusion of all league games on Saturday. George Washington currently occupies the 12th spot in the standings.
