Benson Joins Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff

Head Coach Jeremy Williams and the George Washington women's soccer program have announced the addition of Nick Benson to the coaching staff. Benson will serve as an assistant coach, with an emphasis on developing GW's goalkeeping unit.
"We're excited to add Nick to our staff," said Williams. "He brings a great work ethic, a good goalkeeping background as a player and a coach and is passionate about the development of his players. He'll be a fantastic addition to what we feel is a strong goalkeeping unit."
Arriving in Foggy Bottom after five years with the Coastal Carolina women's program, Benson held three different positions with the Chanticleers. Hailing from Heidelberg, Germany, Benson first joined the staff as a student manager in 2021. Within this role, he assisted with video analytics and statistics collection.
After completing his degree in 2023, Benson stepped into the graduate assistant role. Included in this promotion was the ability to work with Coastal's goalkeepers, helping to recruit and develop the position. His efforts paid dividends as the Chanticleers saw an increase in team save percentage from .741 to .759 over his two years as a GA, while also decreasing the number of goals allowed from year one to year two.
The upward trajectory continued in 2025 as Benson was elevated to a full-time position as Coastal's goalkeeping coach. The GK unit allowed just 18 goals on the season, nine fewer than the year before and 12 fewer than Benson's first year on staff in 2023.
Along with his experience on the Coastal Carolina staff, Benson served as the goalkeeping coach for multiple Beach City F.C. youth teams in the area. Before arriving in the United States, Benson competed in the German Soccer Leagues from 2013-19, while also spending time on the ESV Ansbach/Eyb U7 coaching staff from 2018-19, leading the club to a league title.
Benson graduated from Coastal Carolina in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Sport Management.
