In its second-ever A-10 meeting with Rhode Island, GW lacrosse defeated the Rams to earn its first Atlantic 10 win of the 2026 season and the first victory over URI in program history.
The Revolutionaries built an early 4-1 lead in the opening quarter before Rhode Island responded with a 4-3 edge in the second to trim the deficit heading into halftime. GW pulled away in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals in the third quarter and limiting Rhode Island to two goals in the fourth to secure the conference victory by a margin of six, 13-7.
Seniors Grace Curry and Kiki Rotay each recorded hat tricks alongside first-year Parko Febo to lead the Revolutionaries' offense. Rotay's performance marked the first hat trick of her career, while Febo recorded her third game this season with at least three goals. Curry, GW's leading scorer, has scored three or more goals in every game this season and ranks among the NCAA leaders in goals per game, having entering the day third in the nation.
GW outshot Rhode Island 26-14 on goal. In the draw circle, Daisen Iwan and Natalie Varona each collected three draw controls. Defensively, Mimi Walter led GW with three of the team's 13 ground balls, and seven Revolutionaries recorded a caused turnover.
Goalie Gabi Greth played all 60 minutes and earned the win with seven saves.
GW returns to action Wednesday with a final non-conference matchup against Lafayette at 1 p.m. at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
