3/6/2026 12:20:00 PM | Men's Basketball
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball concludes the regular season on Saturday afternoon as it visits Loyola Chicago for a 2 p.m. ET tip on USA. With a win, GW would clinch at least the No. 8 seed in next week's A-10 Championship with the possibility of moving up to the No. 7 seed with a Richmond win over Duquesne (2 p.m. ET).
STARTS AT THE TOP
Jean Aranguren continued his last season surge Wednesday, matching a season-high with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Coinciding with the beginning of February, Aranguren has averaged 12.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg and 4.7 apg on 58.3% FG (35/60) and 58.8% 3s (10/17) over the last eight games.
Aranguren is nine points shy of 1,000 in his career, which has included stops at Iona and Hofstra prior to GW. The Revolutionaries are 14-7 this year when he scores at least five points.
MARSHALL MAKING MOVES
Graduate student Tyrone Marshall Jr. re-established his season-high on Wednesday vs. St. Bonaventure with 16 points on a highly-efficient 6-of-8 shooting day, adding four boards and three steals. Marshall has averaged 11.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 2.0 apg on 61.5% FG (32/52) over the last seven games, reaching double figures in five of those instances.
During the last two games, Marshall has scored 24 of his 28 points after halftime, including a go-ahead layup vs. Dayton in the final minute and six points in OT Wednesday vs. St. Bonaventure. One of two players on GW with NCAA Tournament experience (Luke Hunger, Northwestern), Marshall has performed above his career averages this season in scoring (8.8 vs. 7.6) and FG% (52.9 vs. 46.6) while ranking second on the team in steals, third in assists and blocks and fourth in rebounds.
A LOOK AT THE RAMBLERS
Loyola has struggled mightily this season, sitting in last place in the A-10 at 3-14 following a 79-65 loss at Saint Louis on Wednesday. The Ramblers have won two of their last three home games, though, over La Salle (71-61) and Richmond (69-66). Xavier Amos has assumed the team's leading scorer role at 11.5 ppg, but has been limited to 16 games due to injury and did not play in the first matchup with GW.
Miles Rubin (11.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.3 bpg) is the lone Rambler to have started all 30 games and had 15 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks vs. GW in January. He is 13th in the country with 70 blocks on the campaign. Justin Moore (10.9 ppg) and Kayde Dotson (10.0 ppg) also average double digits for Loyola Chicago.
Loyola is 13th in the league, and 345th nationally, in scoring offense (66.7 ppg) and is last in the loop allowing 76.9 ppg.
