Softball Hosts Morgan State Wednesday, Travels to Fordham for Weekend Series

GW softball is back home for a single-game midweek contest against Morgan State on Wednesday (3:00 p.m.), before the Revolutionaries make their way to the Bronx for a three-game set against Fordham on Saturday (12:00 p.m. doubleheader) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.). All three games at Fordham will air on ESPN+.

HOGUE'S HEATING UP
Infielder Sydney Hogue has settled into a groove midway through her rookie season. In her last seven games, Hogue is batting 10-23 (.435) with 10 RBI, three home runs and a double. She's also drawn three walks and been hit three times with an OBP of .552 in the same stretch. Hogue's now one of three GW batters with a season-long OPS higher than 1.000 (1.024), and she's in a three-way tie for second on the team in RBI (13).
Adding to her success, the Atlantic 10 named Hogue the A-10 Rookie of the Week yesterday.

Morgan State comes to The Vern on Wednesday at 5-16 (2-4 MEAC). The Bears are 4-1 in their last five after starting the year 1-15, which includes a pair of wins over North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central. Hunter Newman powers the Bears' offense with five of their nine home runs and a team-high 1.067 OPS. Millie Cousins leads Morgan State with a 6.25 ERA. GW leads the all-time series over Morgan State, 7-1, which includes an 18-2 (5) victory last season.

Fordham sits at 10-15 overall (4-5 A-10) and plays Army in the Bronx for a doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting GW this weekend. The Rams dropped their first two conference series, 2-1, against George Mason and Dayton, before picking up a 2-1 series win this past weekend vs. St. Bonaventure.
Fordham averages 1.4 extra-base hits per game and 3.76 runs per game, both well below GW's offensive marks (2.35 extra-base hits per game, 4.69 runs per game). Olivia Simcoe is Fordham's most-featured pitcher with a 3.00 ERA and .230 OPP Avg. over 70.0 IP. GW trails the all-time series against the Rams, 42-12, however the Revolutionaries swept Fordham in a three-game series on The Vern last season.
