GW softball dropped a 10-inning game at Maryland on Wednesday night, 11-7. The Revolutionaries fall to 13-10 overall with the loss.

GW gave the local Big Ten foe all it could handle and was in the driver seat for much of the game. GW took the first lead when Sydney Hogue took advantage of a Terps' error in the second inning to drive in two runs.

Maryland quickly tied the game in the second and took a 3-1 lead in the third, but Hogue came up big again with a two-run home run in the fourth, giving the Revolutionaries the lead again at 4-3.

GW and Maryland traded runs in the fifth and sixth, the Terps homering in the fifth before a GW sac fly in the sixth, but Maryland eventually tied the game in the last of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Both teams tallied a run in the eighth as Emi Todoroki scored on a wild pitch before Maryland worked in a run on an RBI groundout. Neither scored in the ninth, leading to the international tie breaker being implemented for the tenth.

Todoroki was involved again as she sent a single to left and scored GW's runner from second in the top of the tenth. The Terps came back in the bottom to tie the game on a sac fly before eventually loading the bases and hitting a walk-off grand slam.

Hogue and Todoroki combined for five of GW's eight hits. Todoroki had three hits, one walk, one RBI and four runs scored, while Hogue had two hits and a walk, including her two-run home run in the third.

Chloe Greene went 5.0 IP in the start and limited Maryland to three earned runs. She was helped in late and extra innings by Emma Fales and Sophia Torreso, both finishing with two strikeouts.

GW is back on the road this weekend when it travels to Dayton for a three-game series, beginning Saturday with a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m.
