The George Washington baseball team suffered a 12-7 setback at James Madison on Wednesday afternoon, dropping the Revolutionaries to 8-11 on the season.

The Buff & Blue jumped out to an early lead, plating three runs in the second inning. Jack Kent got the scoring started with a double down the right field line, scoring Conlon Walker from second base. Kent scored later in the inning via a wild pitch, while Robbie Lavey drove in the frame's third run on a double to right center, scoring Connor Jones.

JMU quickly erased the deficit with three runs of its own in the home half of the second, but GW recaptured a one-run lead with an RBI groundout from Luke Maltacea in the third.

Nick Mullen doubled GW's advantage with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Crisitno Tufano from third.

The Dukes' offense erupted for four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and four more in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Jack Kent registered his second RBI of the day on a bunt single in the fifth, while Walker picked up an RBI single in the ninth, but GW couldn't put together a comeback late.

Liam Thyen earned his second midweek start of the season, tossing 2.0 innings and allowing three earned runs. Aidan Carey was charged with the loss in relief, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings of work. Jasper Nadel and Henry Knighton both turned in scoreless appearances with one inning in relief each.

GW turns its attention to a weekend series at Saint Joseph's starting on Friday. First pitch on Hawk Hill is set for 3:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
